We have been working with Loughborough University and Wedderburn Transport Planning as the industry partner in this Knowledge Transfer Project funded by Innovate UK. The project, which is nearing completion, is to develop a new smart city software tool for predicting pedestrian footfall anywhere (in the UK initially) at any time of the day at a much finer grain than is currently possible.
Ultimately the tool will be able to predict potential pedestrian footfall for different urban design and land use proposals, making it invaluable for governments, urban decision makers, retailers and property investors needing evidence-based analysis at a walkable scale. We expect other uses and applications to emerge as the tool evolves.
Wedderburn Transport Planning is an affiliate company of Oval Partnership.
